Since 2019 the University of Barcelona has an institutional policy to improve the management, preservation and sharing of research data.
Before starting the research project. Planning: how to create a Data Management Plan
A Data Management Plan (DMP) should explain what will be done with the data during and after the project: what data will be obtained, collected or processed, which standards and methodology will be applied, who will have access to the data and when, and how they will be preserved when the project is finished. Why is it necessary to make a Data Management Plan?
A DMP describes the data management lifecycle about the use, processing and generation to turn research data into findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable, i.e. FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable).

- PGD Template for PhD students, with its guide for thesis supervisors.
- This Template follows the instructions given by the Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades. This other template can be used for completed projects.

You can use CSUC's eiNa DMP if you need help with the creation of data management plans. It includes some of these templates, with instructions on how to fill them in and given examples.
During the research project. Working with data
Available platforms for data storing and sharing among research participants during the research project:
- OneDrive de la UB: this is the personal library in the UB Cloud service available to all UB staff. It allows to store your own documents, which can be shared on an ad hoc basis and made available to the entire UB community. All the information we include in OneDrive is personal.
Sharepoint: this is the space available on the UB Cloud for document management and collaboration between a group of people participating in a common service or project. It has different permissions for groups of people. It can be shared with staff from outside the UB. To open a Sharepoint space, please contact the IT Department.

Publishing data
Considerations based on the John Hopkins University proposal to take into account when selecting a data repository.
We recommend the following order to choose a repository in which to publish your research data:
1. Most frequent disciplinary repositories according to discipline.
2. CORA.Repositori de Dades de Recerca. This repository contains multidisciplinary research data from Catalan universities, research centres in Catalonia and other entities that carry out research to publish research datasets in FAIR mode and following the EOSC guidelines. Here, a procedure to follow if you want to register and deposit datasets in this repository. If you choose this repository, the university offers the service of advice and data curation.
3. Multidisciplinary and open repository, such as Zenodo.
When publishing data, the use of licences must be taken into account to allow its reuse:

Citing data
