The Consortial Borrowing PUC is a free, fast and simple document loan service that provides access to both physical and electronic materials through Cercabib.
The service allows users to request both physical items (books, videos, etc.) as well as electronic or digitized articles and chapters from the Consortium of University Services of Catalonia institutions, as well as international academic institutions.
Service aimed at members of the UB community that belong to the following typologies:
- Bachelor’s degree students and authorized Alumni UB
- Postgraduate students, master's degree and doctoral students
- Teaching and research staff
- Technical, management and administrative and service staff
You can request the documents online through Cercabib or in situ, and according to these conditions:

To use this service, you must:
- Be registered in the database of users of the CRAI loan service.
- Have no overdue items.
- Not be temporarily blocked from using the loans service as a penalization for a late return or other problem.
PUC through Cercabib
- Physical documents
Authorized UB users can request documents from other CSUC institutions directly through Cercabib selecting the University Union Catalogue of Catalonia option from the drop-down menu of the search bar. You must identify yourself beforehand.
How to make the request:
- Search for the document through the University Union Catalogue of Catalonia.
- If it can be obtained through the PUC service, select "Get it".
- Fill out the form.
- When the document is available, you will receive an email from the CRAI Library you selected as the pick-up location, to collect the document and make the loan.
- Electronic or digitized articles or chapters
Authorized UB users can request documents from other CSUC institutions directly through Cercabib selecting the University Union Catalogue of Catalonia option or the Cercabib and morefrom the drop-down menu of the search bar. You must identify yourself beforehand.
How to make the request:
- Search for the document through the Cercabib and more.
- If it can be obtained through the PUC service, select "Get it".
- Fill out the form.
- When the document is available, you will receive an email from which you can download it. You will also find it in the My Requests section of My account in Cercabib. The article will be available for 30 days and you can download it up to 5 times.
- You can only request an article or chapter per request and 3 articles or chapters per month of the same title.
- If you have not found the article or chapter, you can request it through Interlibrary loan. It is a paid service.
PUC in situ
Authorized UB users can borrow items directly from any of the libraries in the CSUC, and identify themselves with their UB card —an indispensable requirement— and take out documents on loan.
