DESCRIPTION
The CRAI Technical Processing Unit is in charge of three areas:
- Cataloguing and processing all of the information resources acquired by CRAI, and maintaining the catalog.
- Organizing and enhancing library management and access to services and resources through the online catalog (OPAC).
- Standardizing, training and coordinating with the libraries on topics related to the handling of resources and automation of processes.
Functions
- To catalog information resources that are in different formats and in different CRAI applications:
- CRAI Catalog
- Digital and special collections in the various repositories through which CRAI disseminates its bibliographic heritage: UB Digital Heritage Library (BiPaDi), Memòria Digital de Catalunya (MDC), University of Barcelona Documents (UBDoc)
- UB Digital Repository
- To establish guidelines and specifications for the UB Catalog, in accordance with the standards approved for the CCUC (University Union Catalog of Catalonia)
- To design instruments for standardization that facilitate access to resources: UB Thesaurus and authorities catalog.
- To manage and maintain the automated system and the online Library Catalog, and incorporate services and tools to improve access to information resources.
