SIRE button

The SIRE button is a bookmarklet that allows you to access e-resources automatically through SIRE (E-Resources Access Service) at any point during browsing.
 
 
 Installing the SIRE button in desktop browsers
The toolbar should be visible in all browsers.
 
 Firefox 
Right-click on the SIRE button and select Add link to toolbar. Or click and drag the button to Bookmarks.
 
 Internet Explorer
Right-click on the SIRE button. Select Add to favourites… and click Yes if a safety alert appears.
 
 Chrome i Safari
Click on the SIRE button and drag it to Bookmarks.
 
SIRE Recursos-e CRAI UB

After installing the SIRE button, SIRE Recursos-e CRAI UB will appear in the toolbar.

 
 
 Using the SIRE button in desktop browsers 
If you access electronic resources from an external search engine (for example, Google), or if you have a bookmark:
1. Access the home page of the journal, database, book portal, journal portal, etc., for example: http://www.nature.com/
 
2. From this page, select SIRE Recursos-e CRAI UB, which you have previously installed in favourites.
 
3. This will take you to the UB authentication page, where you should log in to SIRE, and then to the selected website. In this case, the URL in the address bar would be: http://www.nature.com.sire.ub.edu
 
4. If you wish to log out, enter the following URL: http://sire.ub.edu/logout. Otherwise, the session will time out automatically after 60 minutes of inactivity.
 
 
 Installing the SIRE button in mobile browsers 
 
iPad and iPhone

1. Add the address http://crai.ub.edu/que-ofereix-el-crai/acces-recursos/acces-recursos-proxy/boto to favourites / bookmarks 

2. Give the bookmark a name, for example "SIRE Recursos-e CRAI UB" (access to CRAI-UB e-resources)”, and press Save.

3. Open the bookmark and edit it.

4. Copy the following javascript to the address bar (overwrite the existing text):    

javascript:void(location.href="http://sire.ub.edu/login?url="+location.href)

5. Click on Done.

 
 
Android

3. Of the suggested options that appear, select “Botó SIRE | CRAI UB” and under “javascript:void(location.href="http://sire.ub.edu/login?url="+location.href)” 
4. This will take you to the UB authentication page, where you should log in to SIRE, and then to the selected website. In this case, the URL appearing in the address bar would be: http://www.nature.com.sire.ub.edu
5. If you wish to log out, enter the following URL: http://sire.ub.edu/logout. Otherwise, the session will time out automatically after 60 minutes of inactivity.
