Virtual herbarium

Virtual herbarium

The main objective of the digitization of the Herbarium BCN specimens is to make the collection available online. By doing so, we minimise the need to move the most valuable or vulnerable specimens – with the risk of loss or deterioration that this entails – and limit it to those situations where it is strictly necessary.

The virtual herbarium contains the nomenclatural types and other groups of interest, such as species relevant to plant biodiversity conservation, samples from the collection of fruits and seeds, and historical collections.
