The Teaching Support Service at your library offers support and training to help you convert your paper originals into digital documents. It also offers support and training to convert VHS recordings into digital formats (AVI, VCD, MPEG, FLV, etc.), available at some teaching support points and at the CRAI Teaching Unit.
Requirements
Support must be requested through the User support service (SAU). You will need to be logged in with your UB username.
The assessment and training options help you to:
create digital documents in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) or text formats (.rtf) if OCR is requested
create digital documents in TIFF and JPG formats;
create and save digital video documents.
Help with converting VHS to digital is offered by the CRAI Teaching Unit. The equipment has to be reserved by contacting udcrai@ub.edu
Conversion from digital video to FLV format can be done with the user’s own equipment following the instructions in the document: Instructions for compressing video files into FLV format for uploading to the Virtual Campus.
Once the document has been digitized, you will need to save the files on a USB pendrive or another storage medium. The computers at the Teaching Support Service do not store these materials. Users must provide their own storage mediums, such as CDs, DVDs, USB pendrives, etc.
